Summer Cultural Festival 2016!
Saturday, August the 27th from 11 pm to 7 pm,
Amphitheater at Bowring Park,
The Summer Cultural Festival’s mission is to create a community that includes both newcomers and locals. The festival is a playground for newcomers to experience Newfoundland culture and for Newfoundlanders to explore their new neighbours’ cultural backgrounds.
We are expecting the participation of 30 different performers, and an average attendance of 500 members of the public.
RIAC aims at raising awareness of cultural diversity amongst the St. John’s general public, also to provide meaningful paid work to cultural performers and craftspeople. We aim to celebrate the tradition of cultural diversity that is ever-present in Newfoundland and Labrador.
We are partnering with Partakes (A new social enterprise initiative), who are helping to plan and promote the event, and also the City of St. John’s who have generously donated the use of the venue, free of charge.
