The Coalition on Richer Diversity, CORD, invites members of the community who are linked to various types of diversity promotion, education and administration, work in cultural sensitivity, diversity officers, offer diversity training or promotion cultural awareness and those that are Human Resources’ personnel. Also invited are newcomers to NL, anyone who provides services to newcomers and anyone in the general public who is passionate about diversity.
The purpose of this event is to follow up on a conversation stared by Cord and to benefit from a networking opportunity. The conversation will go around diversity and to explore what diversity means in Newfoundland and Labrador. We will hear from one another about our particular experiences and brainstorm what can be done to continue raising awareness of and collect issues surrounding diversity for further Solutions Groups Conversations.
CORD’s Solutions Group on Diversity:
As a stakeholder in the diversity issue, you are invited to a session of brainstorming and conversation as we explore diversity from a local perspective. As a participant, you will meet others and learn about their work in the diversity field. This session will focus on:
- continue the conversation on diversity
- sharing the most resent understanding of defining diversity
- sharing new experiences in promoting diversity in Newfoundland & Labrador
- brainstorming for opportunities to promote diversity engagement
CORD, in its position as an umbrella group concerned mainly with improving the participation of refugees and immigrants in the St. John’s and NL life, will write up a detailed report on the overall findings of this event. This report will be a public record of raised issues and proposed solutions.
50 Harbour Drive, Second Floor by the port, of Job’s Cove (down Prescott St.) facility is accessible friendly. Parking is suggested at the A.P. Parking Garage’s building to avoid wasting time rounding downtown and running out of the meeting to refeed the meter.
